Physical Policy

All students trying out for a team must have a physical that meets Amity Regional School District #5 Board Of Education policy 5141(e), A physical must be valid for the ENTIRE season - from the first tryout through all championships.

AMITY LOGO USAGE

The Amity Regional High School logos have been created by students and staff. They are unique to Amity and represent our school and athletic department.

Any unauthorized use of our logos is strictly prohibited. Any items bearing our logos should not be sold for profit. Use is strictly for Amity Regional School District #5 teams only.

Teams are allowed to manage their own gear sales. These sales should be reasonable to allow all members of the team to purchase something.

We have 5 approved vendors who have our logos and have been vetted as quality businesses to use. Please refrain from using vendors who have not been vetted or have permission to use our logos.

Please ask about the approved vendors and address any questions directly to the athletic department.

Facilities Reservations & BOE Policies

FACILITY RESERVATIONS

Athletic teams at Amity HS must request a room at the high school before any meeting, pasta party, or use of the building.

Procedures to Reserve a Room at ARHS:

Select one parent to be the official requester of the facility. This person is the ONLY person who may request the facility. The official requester must register online before requesting the facility.
Request the facility at least 2 weeks before the event to ensure it will be available, approved, AND activated. There is a chain of people who must approve each request, thus the importance of reserving the facility well in advance of your event.
Double Check the event is on the facility calendar AND activated. If it is not, contact the facility department immediately.

Fundraising Protocol

The Amity Regional School District Athletic Department does not encourage fund-raising projects, but on occasion coaches, athletes and/or parents may desire to sponsor a fundraiser to acquire monies for a particular need. All fund-raising activities must comply with Federal, State, Local and Board of Education regulations. Fundraisers are to be product-based only and not cash only (no go-fund-me or similar)..

PROCEDURES:

The athletes and/or parents OR Varsity Coach must submit a completed Athletic Department Fund-Raiser Request form to the Varsity Coach for proper approval.
Upon approval by the Director of Athletics, the requesting party (adults only) will be notified.
Items purchased in advance for any or all fundraisers will not become the financial responsibility of the Amity Regional School District or Athletic Department.
All monies derived from fund-raising activities must be deposited into the Athletic Team Fund account of the Amity High School or the team booster account, on the same day that the funds are collected.
Adults must handle all monies before, during, and after the fundraiser. Student-athletes may not be responsible for the accounting of or deposit of team funds.
Fundraising is a voluntary activity. Student-Athletes or their parents will not be required to submit payment of any kind in advance of the fund-raising activity.
Student athletes or their parents will be responsible for unreturned items or funds they were presented for the fund-raising activity.
A Financial Statement of the team’s booster account must be made available upon request of the Administration.

The fundraising form is to be completed a minimum of 2 weeks before the fundraising event. Print, complete, and submit to the coach who will work with the athletic department for review and approval:

Each Student must be taking 5 credits and passing 4 towards graduation (year-end grades for fall, quarter grades for winter & spring)
Students must have 10 practices before being eligible for competition
Students may not practice or compete with an outside team of the same sport during the season
Students may not attend showcases during the season

Team Travel & Travel Release Information

All athletes must travel to and from athletic contests in transportation provided by the Athletic Department.

Athletes will remain with their team and under the supervision of the coach.
Athletes who miss the bus will not be allowed to participate in any contest unless there are extenuating circumstances and with the coach’s approval.
Parents will not transport athletes unless a travel release form is completed, (email is unacceptable) are submitted to the Coach preferably 48, but at least 24 hours before the contest for approval. The athletic director will give final approval.
In an emergency or extenuating circumstances, athletes may travel will an alternative adult. In this rare instance, an alternative adult transportation form must be completed and approved by the athletic director.
When transportation is not provided to off-campus home venues, athletes may not transport other student-athletes to any contests or practice sessions.

Team Meetings

Out of Season Room Use

Teams may not use the grounds or facilities at ARHS without proper authorized supervision.

Teams may physically condition at the high school provided the following criteria is met:

Proper supervision:
- Weight Room - The weight room supervisor or your coach may supervise weight room activities
- Gyms/Fields - A coach must supervise ANY and ALL activities. ONLY physical conditioning is allowed - NO sport-specific activities are allowed per CIAC policy.

Clearance from the Director of Athletics

The director of athletics must authorize any use of the facility and will determine if a facility request must be submitted before the activity.

NO CAPTAINS practices including conditioning, teambuilding, skill work, or scrimmaging may occur on school grounds.

Banquets

Individual sport banquets are a way for a team to gather and celebrate a team or program's season. Banquets should not be mini "proms" and should be reasonable in cost. The cost should be reasonable to ensure all can attend.

There is to be NO alcohol served at ANY high school event, including banquets on or off campus

Banquets must be planned as to not interfere with students who participate in other sports. Sunday afternoons are almost always a great time as there is almost never high school sports at this time.

Pasta Parties

Each team may host 2 pasta parties per season. This is a great opportunity for team bonding. Teams are encouraged to hold these at the high school cafeteria.

Senior Gifts

Senior gifts are meant to be momentos of an athlete's participation on a given team. They are not mandatory but can make for great long-term remembrances of their experience. They should not be gifts such as jewelry, headphones, gift certificates, or any other gift that does not carry long-term meaning and/or memories of their experience. The price should be within reason, $50.00 is an estimation.

Through volunteer efforts and fundraising, the Booster Club helps provide equipment, facility improvements, the Block A Awards Dinner, senior scholarships, and other opportunities that enhance the student-athlete experience.

All fundraising and volunteering directly impacts all of our student athletes. We offer our support to help with the costs of equipment and facility upgrades, sponsor the Block “A” Awards Banquet and Booster Club senior scholarships.

The mission of the Athletics Booster Club is to promote sportsmanship and positivity, build community, develop well-being and raise funds. We are committed to encouraging and supporting our student athletes as they develop into Amity’s “Portrait of a Graduate”, a shared vision that encompasses essential and academic skills needed to prepare students for challenges and opportunities in life. This illustrates a respectful and self aware individual who demonstrates the following characteristics: collaborator, emphasizer, problem solver, planner and communicator.

All members are invited to join in on our monthly meetings, held the 1st Thursday in AHS room 501 at 6:30pm.

Booster Club annual membership dues are $20 per family, $10 for grandparents and $15 for Amity alumni.
